Note for:   Marie Lendor,   ABT 1837 - 22 APR 1943         Index

Alias:   /Annie/

Burial:
     Date:   23 APR 1943
     Place:   Riverside Cemetery, Castries, St.Lucia

Individual Note:   Marie was also known as Annie, as Aunt Aggie could not say Granny, and the change stuck. She was of fair complexion and slim with a small waist. She wore court shoes to go to church, and you could hear her walk past the house to church, "chip, chip, chip" on the pavement. She usually wore a white "robe duiette". She lived with Mam in a 3 or 4 bedroomed bungalow, next door to 37 St.Louis Street.

She went senile in her old age and used to complain about a man over there watching her. She died in her sleep one afternoon with no apparent sickness or symptoms. She died on Maundy Thursday and was buried the next day. She lived till 107 (106 on death certificate), hence the estimate of her birth year. On her death certificate her occupation is given as proprietor. Her death was reported by her grandson George W.H.Bonnett, druggist / pharmacist of Castries. Marie is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Castries.

According to Andreuille Alcée, M.J.Emily Bonnett was the only child that Annie / Marie had. She used to say that "if you have eleven things and want a dozen, and steal one to make it, then all will go from you." She also used to say that "if you've done your best, there is nothing more that you can do. If it's meant for you then not even the tide of the river can keep it from you".
