Individual Note:   James was from Ballycroy, Achill but later lived in Dooniver, Achill. James and Catherine were married at St.Martin's, Renton. James is married at the age of 21, hence the estimate of his birth year as 1885. An estimate of his birth year based on his age at death would be 1883. His residence at the time of his marriage was Lea Farm, Cardross. His occupation is Farm Labourer at the time of his marriage in 1906, General Labourer at the time of Annie's birth in 1916, and Farm Labourer at the time of Annie's marriage in 1946. He is referred to as a "jack of all trades" and actually built 3 houses in Dooniver, Achill. See notes on Franci Murray for details of their homes on Achill. James also worked in England at some point and used to send money back to support the family on Achill.

When James and Katie had been married for 65 years (3rd Dec 1971), their anniversary was written about in the Mayo News.

Individual Note:   After Catherine was born, it is understood that her mother left Ireland for America and so Catherine was raised by relatives. Catherine is married at the age of 20, hence the estimate of her birth year as 1886. An estimate based on her age at death would be 1883 (3 years older). Her occupation at the time of her marriage is Farm Servant and her residence is Lea Farm, Cardross. Witnesses at the marriage were Michael Carney and Bridget Grenlis.

Individual Note:   Maud's occupation at the time of her marriage in 1918 is Potato Dresser, and she is aged 20. Her residence is given as River, Mayo (presently at Tibbermore), she is believed to have been from River originally and went back there later to raise her children. She is believed to be buried in Scotland.
